My Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry

My Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry (Knowledge for young Pharmacy Students):

What is an Industry:
Actually Industry is the place where manufacturing of some products takes place. It can either be a plastic material factory or a pharmaceutical based industry.
Difference Between Industry Pharmaceutical or Nutraceutical:
There are two types of Industries.
1) In Pharmaceutical Industries, manufacturing of allopathic medicines takes place.
2) In Nutraceutical Industries, manufacturing of multivitamins tablets takes place. Multivitamin are not recommended for the treatment of any disease.
Which is more better Nutra or Pharma:
In Pharma, you will get more exposure to medicines and their manufacturing for example some industry made variety of dosage form like capsule, tablets, syrups etc. Whereas in Nutra, there are less dosage form and less exposure to production. Mostly Sections are closed due to less demand of nutraceuticals and more demand of pharma. Based on Salary Nutra is good than pharma, but experience of Nutra won't count.
Department in Pharmaceutical Industry:
There are many departments major are explained below:
1)Quality Assurance Department
2)Quality Control Department
3)Production Department
4)R&D
Which Department is more better in Pharma Industry:
According to my Opinion, Production Department leads to more exposure of medicines and very good start for pharmacy trainee. Furthermore in Production Department, Tablet section is very good start because in tablet manufacturing it need art and science to prepare tablet. On the other hand, capsule and liquid section are not much of a concern because they need just packing and filling (all about machines working).
Manufacturing process of Tablets:
We must know the process of making tablet, if you knew it already then it's a very good start for a pharmacy student.

Must know how about granulation a very important step in making Tablets:
My presentation is described below Must go through it:
Granulation
Packaging Material

Roles of Departments:
Quality Assurance :
Must Ensure each and every step of tablet or dosage form is taking place according to BMR rules
BMR (BATCH MANUFACTURING RECORDS)
IN BMR, instructions of making tablet or dosage form are mentioned. And Helper must mention time and date when it is performed.
BMR are records that are used so that in case of Audit or DRAP(Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan) they have the records of all Manufacturing according to Rules and Regulation.
Test Must performed by QA and QC for example leakage test is performed by moisture analyzer in case of blistering of tablets.
blistering are sheet of aluminium foil or Alu Alu to protect tablets from moisture etc.
Quality Control:
Through different instruments and equipments they validate the process.
Qualification used for equipments.
Validation used for process.
Calibration also done by QA to check whether instrument showing accurate results. For example putting weight on weight machine at different angle to check accuracy.
QC used disintergration test, moisture analyzer etc and check results according to B.P or U.S.P. Mostly B.P used.
R&D(Research and Development):
Research and development of new products so that it can be manufacture and marketed through their own industry. For example, some cosmetic products serum etc.
When Vendor give Raw material to industry, R&D first check it and make 4 small batch and validate them if they are good to go then it is go to Pilot Scale (Large scale) for Production.
Production:
Production Department mainly focus on producing tablets, syrups, capsules, liquids, sachets. They have no time to think sit. They have orders demand and supply system. They check the tablet productions and fill BMR according to which batch is under granulation or which batch is under compression. They always note the Batch Size, Batch Number, Expiry Date, Manufacturer etc before dispensing the Raw material.

Warehouse:
Warehouse is the location where raw material from different vendors are stored. Then this material goes to Dispensing.
