How Pharmacist update their knowledge Regarding Drugs and clinical pharmacy practice
There is always being a concern regarding knowledge of pharmacist in Pakistan. Pharmacist or students after entering their practical life forget little by little about the drugs and their mechanism. More precisely they do not update their medical education during jobs. Most pharmacist enter into marketing site which effect their education. This Blog is for those pharmacist which are currently working in their clinical field, Doing Practice in Hospital etc.
1. Learn and update knowledge during Job:
For example, those who are working in a retail pharmacy have a daily interaction with drugs and patient counselling. Most common method to update knowledge is to read the label and instruction of each drug mentioned on their packs.
2.Learn on the internet:
There are many apps who could help you regarding your knowledge about Medicines. Some Apps from Google Playstore and some Websites.
3.Books:
If you are not working on any pharmacy nor you are doing job nor you have any mobile resources then the best way is to get knowledge through Books. There are some Official Books and Some Non-official books.
Official Books:
British National Formulary and British Pharmacopoeia:
These are official books that are published. Must get these books available on our site in previous blog.
Local Publishers:
There are publishers in Pakistan that market their Books. One of the best book is PharmaGuide.It contain all the brands of drugs and their indications etc. Because Pharmacist only learn Generic in their career, so it is a great source to enhance knowledge.

4.Speak with other pharmacists.
If you have friends that are pharmacists in other areas of the industry, ask them about what they do and what drugs they frequently dispense.
If you don’t have a lot of friends in pharmacy, or you don’t get much time to speak with them, consider joining a local pharmacists association and meeting some people who work in different environments.
Also Ask your seniors in your university etc.
5.Consider a board certification.
Obtaining a board certification provides the opportunity for growth and development. Doing BCPS from Shaukat Khanum is very good for career. A Board Certified Pharmacist doesn't require any test in foreign country, directly gets a job.
6.Attending Seminars and Receiving Certificates:
There are certain website or fb pages you can go and register for seminar. Always attend National Conferences.
7.Doing online Courses of Your Field:
During Covid, many universities offers online training programs. Always search on net and grab this opportunity.
