Who is Veterinary Pharmacist?
A veterinary pharmacist is an animal health professional with a doctoral degree and advanced training related to the use of pharmaceutical products that are being used on specifically animals. The duties may vary depending on the specific nature of their employment (i.e. whether they work in academia, for a corporation, for a veterinary related business, or for a regulatory agency).
Although Pharmaceuticals products are same for human and animal but their dose variation may occur according to Pharmacokinetics and dynamics. Different brands are used for animals as well as for human beings. But generic are almost same.
How to Become a Veterinary Pharmacist
The qualifications that you need to start a career as a veterinary pharmacist include a degree, a pharmacist license, and skills and knowledge in the field of veterinary medicine. An aspiring veterinary pharmacist can get a bachelor’s degree in a subject like animal science, chemistry, or health science. You must then pursue a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree (5 year degree program). States also require a license to practice. You may be able to specialize in veterinary medicines during your pharmacy degree studies, or you can undertake a fellowship or internship after graduating.
